The Porrina de Badajoz Flamenco Festival takes place in June and is a series of flamenco performances in the city of Badajoz. The festival takes its name from José Salazar Molina, a singer better known as "Porrina de Badajoz". Salazar was a native of this Extremaduran city and was famous for his exceptional singing style and unforgettable stage presence. The city erected a monument to him in the Plaza de la Soledad. Today, the festival in his honour attracts some of the best flamenco voices in the region.
