Portrait of a Woman

Inman was well known as a portrait painter, creating images of people including President Martin Van Buren and US Chief Justice John Marshall. This young woman is unidentified. She wears large, neoclassical beaded earrings and a pendant necklace as well as a thin gold headband. The Georgia Museum of Art also owns a likely companion portrait of an unidentified man.
