Max Wislicenus was the most popular Wrocław secessionist. He graduated from the Academies in Düsseldorf and Munich, took part in exhibitions of works of the "Scecesja" association. In Wrocław, he exerted a great influence on the reform of teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts, of which he was the director in 1916-1918. In addition to painting, he also dealt with weaving and usable art, which he also created in the spirit of Art. The presented picture probably shows the artist's student and second wife, who took part in many artistic projects with him, and was involved in weaving herself. The picture was painted with a flat color spot with a large role of the outline, which was typical of Art Nouveau.
