Andrea Biggini (1810-1889), owner of an oil shop in Corso Venezia, in his will benefits not only the Ospedale Maggiore but also the Milanese church of San Babila. He left a conspicuous sum for the construction of the parish church of Magnasco, in the Ligurian Apennines, where he was born, because the town had its own religious building and the faithful were not forced to use, with obvious inconvenience, that of the neighboring municipality. The commission of the portrait is assigned to Sebastiano De Albertis, who works with other works for the Picture Gallery, always obtaining good critical successes.
