Carlo Dell 'Acqua (1776-1846), one of the most brilliant physicians of the Ca' Granda at the beginning of the nineteenth century, disciple and friend of Giovanni Rasori, in 1846 he left the hospital about three thousand volumes of medicine (he is therefore also considered the founder of its prestigious library) and the sum of 50,000 lire, with the obligation to increase the collections and to set up an annual award in favour of publications by young practicing doctors.
