Portrait of Giulio Sichirollo

Ca’ Granda – Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico
Milan, Italy

Giulio Schirollo (1888-1960) does not directly benefit the Ospedale Maggiore. Interior decorator, soul and mind of the Grazioli and Gaudenzi firm of art decorations and furniture, he appoints his wife Gemma Fragni as heir, who allocates a large part of her husband's assets, sure to interpret his philanthropic will, in favor of charitable institutions, including the Ospedale Maggiore, with the specific request that they be used for the construction of the new San Carlo Hospital and that the commemorative portrait of the spouse is also performed. The Ca 'Granda entrusts it to Trento Longaretti. This, however, is still given by the widow, who had it carried out at her own expense. Made with the usual clean and simple style by Ugo Celada da Virgilio, it appears to be largely inspired by the "official" one, from which it derives pose and expression of the face. Change the setting, here more rigid and less creative.
