Gottfried Keller (1819-1890) - Swiss novelist and lyricist, creating in German (an outstanding representative of realistic nineteenth-century prose), painter and politician, from 1861 the First Official Secretary of the Canton of Zurich, a leading member of the Swiss Central Committee to help Poland, which was one of the elements of an extensive international aid campaign supporting the January Uprising in 1863-1864.
