Portrait of Luca Monti

Luca Monti (1817-1886), a wealthy merchant, after a life dedicated to charity and work, named three grandchildren as his heirs, providing for a very large number of legates for charities and welfare organizations, including the Ospedale Maggiore. The half-length portrait of Giuseppe Bertini, an expert portraitist, is not commissioned by the hospital but comes with the inheritance.
