He is dressed in a dark gray jacket and matching single-breasted waistcoat, with a black-and-blue checkered cravat visible beneath and a white high collar. The subject’s round face features a large bald patch, surrounded by a few short, salt-and-pepper hairs. His cheeks are fleshy and smoothly shaved; he has gray mustache and a double, sagging chin. On his nose, he wears small pince-nez in a gilded wire frame. In the lower right corner, hidden beneath the frame, is the signature "Balukiewicz 1897".
