Maia Chiburdanidze, born in 1961, is a Georgian chess Grandmaster who held the Women’s World Chess Champion title from 1978 to 1991. She was the youngest champion until 2010 and became the second woman to be awarded the Grandmaster title by FIDE in 1984.
