The canvas portrays the great founder of Casa Buonarroti: Michelangelo the Younger; it was carried out by his friend, the painter Cristofano Allori. A comparison with a print published by Condivi, coming from the same painting, made it possible for Tolnay to highlight a repainting of the portrayed’s beard, made more thick at a later stage. Michelangelo the Younger wanted that his portrait to be placed in the Room of Night and Day alongside the one of his granduncle made by Bugiardini, placing them within two beautiful and identical baroque frames, still preserved today.
