Travelers often collected postcards of the inns and hotels they visited. At small inns, such as the one pictured here, guests enjoyed tranquil landscapes, quaint towns, and fresh air. This postcard, dated 1915, captures the experience of one traveler who wrote on the reverse side, "Our first stop in California has been at this fascinating Inn, situated in beautiful Riverside, the home of the Navel Orange. Today we took a wonderful auto-ride through miles of roads lined with orange trees."
