This satirical poster was originally made in Great Britain (Designed and printed by Johnson, Riddle and Co., ltd, london, Published by gw Bacon and Co., Ltd., 127, Strand, W.C.), but copied and reproduced in Germany (Cop .E.Zimmermann. Verlag u. Druck: W. Nölting. Hamburg. Kaiser Wilhelmstr. 93) as an example of British propaganda. Draws a map of Europe with border lines of some countries, containing caricature portraits of their soldiers. Other countries are represented by dogs: Britain - a bulldog, which is kept on a leash by a British sailor, France - a poodle, Germany - a dachshund, and Austria-Hungary - a mongrel. A bulldog bites a dachshund by the nose. Serbia is represented by a wasp, and Russia by a skating rink led by Tsar Nicholas II. At the bottom of the poster is Walter Emmanuel's text about the various stages of the war, which describes each nation fighting like dogs.
