1772-1782

Tallinn City Museum
Tallinn, Estonia

One of the most peculiar types of aroma vases were the so-called terraced vase, first invented in Sweden, variations of which were also produced at Fick’s manufacture. The footer of the terraced vase is made up of a grotto and a curved staircase going upwards, the pear shaped body of the vase is decorated by supple vines and blooms. A squirrel is sat in front of the grotto, a snake slithers above him on the tree trunk. Dome shaped perforated lid missing. Faience, on-glaze painting. Signed: X/Reval/Fick.

Produced by Carl Christian Fick's faience factory (Revalische Vagance-Porcelain Fabrick) that operated in Tallinn from 1772 to 1782.
