Preparatory sketch

Preparatory sketch of a rabbit amongst grasses. The proportions of this drawing suggest it was intended for an album leaf. Albums were a compact way of bringing together works by a single artist, or by many different figures. However, there is a circle in the centre of the drawing that seems too small and low to be the moon and perhaps indicates where a hole should be placed in a piece of furniture or object.
