King and Queen at Albert Hall — Signor Toscanini's Triumph — Great Audience's Ovation — Works Conducted from Memory
Arturo Toscanini, the famous Italian conductor, registered an immediate triumph, when, with the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, he made his first appearance in England at the Royal Albert Hall yesterday afternoon.
The King and Queen were present, and others in the Royal box were the Duchess of York, Prince George, Princess Beatrice, and the Duke of Connaught.
During the interval Toscanini (who had conducted the whole concert from memory) was presented to the King, and at the end of the concert he was the object of a great ovation from an audience which numbered about 9,000.
