Primary school in Vilarinho de São Romão

The primary school of Vilarinho de São Romão, the model-project of which was designed by the architect Adães Bermudes (1864-1948), located at the far end of the oldest settlement, once hardly inhabited, was built between 1900 and 1910. It was one of the many new schools built throughout the country, with the purpose of addressing the lack of primary schools and the high illiteracy rate.
