William Shakespeare: Hamlet
Slovak National Theatre, Bratislava, 1 April 1950
Directed by Jozef Budský, Ivan Lichard, Tibor Rakovský
In 1950, Hamlet was directed by three directors because the establishment emphasized the important of collective values (the need to submit individual interest to the interest of the community). The principal director was Jozef Budský who also performed the character of Hamlet. The production did not address the moral dilemma of a contemporary man, but presented a sober and rational story from the past.
