Protestors and Counter-protesters at the Robert E. Lee Statue in Richmond, VA

Hundreds of marchers rally at the Robert E. Lee statue on Monument Avenue, in Richmond, Virginia on September 16, 2017 to counter pro-Confederate statue demonstrations, On the other side of the Lee statue, a small group of pro-Confederate supporters and other counter-protesters engaged each other in a mostly peaceful manner. Counter-protesters greatly outnumbered the supporters of Confederate statues along Monument Avenue. Richmond Police arrested seven people during the day's activity.
