A key piece of an on-the-go late-19th-century woman's wardrobe, this Lady's Jacket or Visite would have been worn by Adelaide Frick in cold weather months. Worn over an appropriately colored dress, the jacket's design allowed the wearer to easily enter and exit carriages and other transport, and could even be left on during short visits. This Visite was much more than functional, however, as its bold paisley pattern and Asian styling, dark maroon velvet collar, and ornate fringe decoration create a dramatic fashion statement.
