Quartet is about seeking freedom from the confines of the self in order to overcome the ordeal of otherness through the formation of a community, a place of brotherhood and emotional expression. Through moments of shared intensity, the individual is transformed and condensed, as the "I" is some way extended to an "us". This aspiration to surpass one's own limits through a desire for togetherness resonates like a vow. In perfect harmony, the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Massy ensemble's string quartet plays a selection of extracts from Philip Glass' quartets.
