Luise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1776-1810) married the Prussian heir to the throne Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1770-1840), with whom she had nine children. Her personal resistance to the strict conditions of peace dictated against Prussia by France in 1807 and her early death in 1810 made Queen Louise a popular symbolic figure.
