From the Artist: Longing for human connection led me back to portraiture. Months at home on Zoom, gave me the restlessness necessary to dive into working with color again. In order to cope with Zoom meeting after Zoom meeting, I sketched the people on the other side of the screen. At the end of the day, my eyes would burn and my head would ache from screen time on top of screen time. Surrounded by the neverending loneliness of being a mom during Covid, I was drawn to these sketches. I was curious about the lives of these lesser known people in my life. I considered each individual, playing with color intuitively as I both recalled and reimagined them. I found comfort in their individuality and even in their stories, most of which I invented.
