The tradition of Crimean Tatars as well as the history of its customs and art is inextricably linked with the main sacred piece – the Quran. Its primary importance for Muslims is emphasized by the rich decoration of sacred books.
The front part of the case for the Quran is covered with a continuous embossed carpet of twisted shoots, leaves and flowers. The center of the ornamental composition is a large multi-petal rosette carved in high relief. On the back there is an ornamentally decorated hexagonal star placed in a circle with a 15-petal whirling rosette in the center. The Dawud sign is flanked by two schematic depictions of minarets crowned by crescents.
