This bronze and steel sculpture was installed in 1989 on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge, and features King's likeness facing the four cardinal directions, with four bronze plaques attached to the base of the sculpture, each containing biographical information about King and excerpts from his speeches in both English and Braille. It was created by artists Constancia Gafeney and Wil Clay; Clay was a prolific local artist working across mediums, and the recipient of the prestigious Coretta Scott King Honor Award for Illustration.
