Ram Karan, chairman of the village development committee of Laporia explains the 'Chauka' method of ground water recharging. A series of bunds, channels andpits are dug over a 5Km stretch, in a checker board-like pattern, following the natural slope of the land. Rain water flows slowly, this results in the retention of the top soil and increase in the moisture content.
