Ray Etzel kept a scrapbook while serving in World War II. A member of the Marine Corps for four years, Etzel was from Topeka, Kansas and returned to the city after his service concluded. He saw action in Guadalcanal, Tarawa, and Saipan while part of L Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Regiment, in the 2nd Marine Division.
Like other U.S. states and regions across the globe, Kansans have served and died in war. The Kansas Museum of History aims to remember them through what they left behind. To see the rest of the scrapbook please visit: https://www.kansasmemory.org/item/305840
