Rebuilding renaissance palace in contemporary materials
The Palace of the Grand Dukes built in the fifteenth century for the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania later
was the administrative and cultural center at the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Following war
campaigns in the seventeenth century and being abandoned in 1801 Tsarist Russian officials decided to demolish the
lower part of the Vilnius castle complex.
