In the picture is a court robe without rank insignia 時服 in light red color. Officials of the senior third rank and above wore this type of robe while undertaking official duties during the later Joseon period. The outer layer is made of unpatterned silk in light red and the inner fabric is indigo blue silk. The robe has a white collar in unpatterned silk. Although red danryeong was simple and plain with neither patterns on the fabric nor rank insignia, it was abolished during the dress reform in the 21st year of King Gojong (1884). Instead, black danryeong was designated as the only robe for the officials while undertaking public duties.
