Red Room

Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi1880 - 1885

Bagatti Valsecchi Museum

Bagatti Valsecchi Museum
Milano, Italy

The large Sicilian bed in gilded wrought iron dominates the master bedroom of Carolina Borromeo and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi. The luxurious look of the room creates a proper backdrop for the beautiful collection of 15th and 16th century paintings hung on the walls. Among these shines the St. Justine of Giovanni Bellini, which is datable to around 1470. Note, too, the antique children’s furniture in the room, as if to allude to the five children born of their marriage.
