Red-shanked doucs in Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang
The red-shanked douc (Pygathrix nemaeus) is a rare and endangered primate species in Vietnam. Son Tra now has more than 1300 individuals of red-shanked douc species that exist in nature.
The red-shanked douc, listed as an endangered spiece in Vietnam and IUCN Red List, is native to Indochina. According to the latest study by GreenViet organization, Son Tra is the home of more than 1,300 individuals of the red-shanked douc langur, and this is the largest and most sustainable population of the species.
