Located in the area of Porta Capuana in Naples, the Refettorio Made in Cloister was developed thanks to the partnership between Food for Soul and the Fondazione Made in Cloister. Every Monday night, the project offers a healthy and welcoming dinner to people in need from the area. Historically known as one of Naples’ main gateways, the neighbourhood of Porta Capuana has a long tradition of welcoming and restoring travellers coming from outside Naples. Here, the Fondazione Made in Cloister acquired some of the spaces inside the ex-convent of S. Caterina a Formiello, a sixteenth-century church that had been turned into a wool mill by the Borbone family and later abandoned for 140 years. After 4 years working on the architectural recovery of the spaces and on the restoration of the frescoes, the Fondazione decided to develop it into a creativity center, involving masters of the great Neapolitan craft culture, together with international artists and designers. The mission consists in promoting projects connected to different forms of art, handicraft and food, aimed at activating sustainable development processes in the area.
