The persistent characteristic of HAN MAN-YOUNG(1946- )'s works is borrowing of classics from the Western painting and its reconstruction.

The reinterpreted classic attains new meaning, and sometimes an unexpected image is added to it. Thus the individuality extracted from the difference between original and transformed meaning is discovered.

Han's works are created for 'reading' rather than 'looking', through which audience can intellectually sympathize with the artist.

This work shows that Han's interest in classics extended to the Korean tradition. The head of Venus, an hourglass and the picture of a boy pulling a foal show that Han tries to cross not only time but also space.
