Mainly as a freehand category of the Chinese literati painting, the Chinese still life paintings usually combine freehand with fine brushwork, coupled with explaining poems, constituting a delight for both refined and popular tastes.
Among these bamboo ribs, the guards are embellished with carved still life paintings, one oval seal of “Bochang”, the artisan’s name, on one guard, and a square seal of “Bochang” on the other.
