In this work, a night scene is depicted in a simplified, stylised and exaggerated manner. There is a contrast in brushwork between the deliberate conciseness of the woods and the spontaneity in the colouring strokes, and no traditional texturing strokes. The pictorial composition is also characterised by strong black and white contrast, giving the work a strong sense of perspective.
