CHICKENS IN HOT WATER! HE BATHES CHICKENS HOW to make a chicken happy - just pop it into a bath of warm soapy water with mountains of bubbles. It's no trouble at all, as you see above. Mr. Ian Kay, 22-year-old poultry farmer of Darlton, near Newark, Notts, has been bathing chickens for years and says they love it. He demonstrated his theory at the Poultry Show at Olympia yesterday. "I bath 50 or 60 birds a week to get them ready for shows," he said. "Some object first time but after that they take to it like ducks. With all Mr. Kay's experience he is still not allowed to bath his six-month-old son John. "I don't think my wife would trust me." Two turkeys that won't be anyone's Christmas dinner this year were drawing big crowds. They were Monarch, 45lb, and heavist in the show, and his son Satan, 41lb. They belong to Mr. Clifford Spencer, of Springdale Farm, Ruxton, Bridlington, and after the show they go back to boss the rest of Mr. Spencer's turkey flock. Industry - Agriculture - Poultry - Birds
