This stand is decorated with identical scenes depicting either a deity and worshiper or a ruler and subject. It seems to be a scaled-down version of larger stands, some with wheels, which supported basins used in religious ceremonies, recalling the wheeled stands used in Solomon's Temple, decorated with lions, oxen, and cherubim (1 Kings 7:27–37).
