Roar, Yellow River depicted the musician Xi Xinghai who was conducting the Yellow River Chorus in the auditorium of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in Yan’an. In order to express the ambition and passion of young people in that era, the artist adopted passionate and rough carving techniques and colors of high contrast, as well as diagonal composition. And finally created vigorous character with vivid facial expression, as if the chorus is performing by the Yellow River.
