Robert Stroud, "Birdman of Alcatraz"

Stroud was housed in an Alcatraz hospital room by himself as he was considered an extreme danger to other inmates and officers. He had a long record of having attacked prisoners and officers in other prisons before coming to Alcatraz. Here he is seen, feet up on the bed, surrounded by his books.
