Roma, Palazzo Doria Pamphilj. Gabinetto del Velázquez

The Catalan architect and photographer Jordi Bernadò uses photography as a tool for conceiving of the city and architecture. His investigations of large metropolises highlight the contradictions of urban landscapes in post-industrial society, through an approach marked by a subtle and corrosive humour.
For the "atlante italiano 007. Rischio paesaggio", the second investigation of the Italian territory commissioned by the MAXXI to fifteen photographers, Bernadò explored the system of symbols that makes Rome a layered city, and the image of power, represented in three parts of the city: the Pantheon, Palazzo Chigi and the salon of the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj with Velàzquez’s Portrait of Pope Innocent X.
