This multi-coloured embroidery features a rose stem surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves. The pattern was designed by William Morris and this example was embroidered in silk by his younger daughter, May Morris. May embroidered the piece as a cushion cover for her friend Amy Carruthers Tozer. The design was exhibited at the Arts and Crafts Exhibition in 1890.
