Likely to have been commissioned in 1806 to mark the occasion of his marriage to Alexandrine Douville, daughter of the head chamber maid of Empress Joséphine, this portrait depicts Roustam Raza in a luxurious costume created by the tailor Sandoz. Wearing a turban crafted with embroidered muslin, he also wears an oriental sword and has a dagger tucked into his belt.
