This teacup is part of a crockery set made for Royal Sydney Golf Club. The club's crockery has since been redesigned.
Sydney Golf Club was formed in August 1893. Its first competition was on 3 October at Yaralla, the Concord property of philanthropist Miss (later Dame) Eadith Walker. In 1895, associate members were admitted. At the clubhouse opening in 1897, Lord Hampden announced that Queen Victoria had assented to the use of the Royal prefix. From the beginning, sights were set on a seaside location. By the turn of the century, RSGC had given up the course at Yaralla (leading to the formation of Concord Golf Club) in favour of its current course in Rose Bay.
