Rubia Cordifolia or Indian Madder or Manjistha. It is used for the red pigment derived from its roots.

Indian Madder is one of the most popular dye plants all over the world, after the Indigofera tinctoria (Indian Indigo plant). Unlike the Indigo though, it takes a couple of years to grow to their full length and get ready for harvest. But like any other dye yielding plant, Manjistha is also known for its medicinal properties.
