Sabre of the chieftain Dimitrios Plapoutas (1786-1864) from Gortinia, Peloponnese. On the silver scabbard, adorned with a niello decoration, are human figures, dragons, foliate themes and, in a dominant position, the goddess Athena. According to the inscription the weapon was made in 1831 by Ioannis Davaroukas, member of a renowned family of silversmiths from the village of Kalarrytes in Epiros. L. 0.89 m. (ΓΕ 5756)
