With the first shower of monsoon, some plants wake up from their sleep and showcase their beauty for a short period such plants are called Ephemeral. One such plant is Chlorophytum tuberosum which sprouts from tubers with the first shower of rain. It has strap-shaped green leaves and white flowers with yellow stamens. The plant is edible and used as famine food where bulb and leaves are dried and pounded into flour for bread.
