Saint Apollonia

Popularly known as the patron saint of dentists and tooth-related diseases, this female figure is thought to be the martyr Saint Apollonia. Persecuted for her Christian faith, the saint is said to have been tortured by the removal or the shattering of all her teeth. Images of Saint Apollonia typically show her with a tooth necklace or holding a bloody tooth with a set of pliers, as seen in the Ponce sculpture.
