Saint John of Matha was the founder of the order of Trinitarians and the Redemption of the captive Christians taken into slavery by Muslims during the raids led by the Saracens on the coast of the Mediterranean in the 12th century. Here he is seen in attitudes of humility and holiness offering food to the poor.
