Half-figure statue depicting Saint John the Evangelist standing on wooden base with loss of original polychrome. Head turned to the left, hair back and striated streaks. Eyes upward. Wide tunic suit with pointed collar over front cloak. Right leg bent forward. Bare feet point under the tunic. At his feet, on the right, is an eagle with incised lines determining feathers. He doesn't have his hands. According to bibliography, the work was produced between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th. It occupied one of the niches on the facade of the church of Santa Cruz dos Militares in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
