The lower part of this samovar features a warmer with grille. The upper part is the water container decorated with shell-shaped ornaments. Samovars were most of all used in Eastern Europe for diluting separately brewed, very strong tea concentrate with hot water. In Berlin this form of preparing tea was popularized in the 1920s by Russian emigrees who had fled the October Revolution.
